Matthew Kenny joined ThinkTennessee as Policy Associate in September 2022. As Policy Associate, he provides research and analysis for ThinkTennessee’s policy portfolio and supports advocacy efforts at both the state and local levels.
Previously, Matthew worked as a Government Advocacy Consultant for Bass, Berry & Sims PLC, where he supported legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts and coordinated with a broad network of clients, coalitions, officials, and issues. Matthew served as Governor of the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature and completed complex research on a variety of topics while pursuing his undergraduate degree.
Matthew is passionate about efficiency-oriented governance, collaborative policymaking, and issues of transportation, energy, environment, and oversight. He was a recipient of Rhodes College’s 2022 Mike Cody Award in Political Science.
Matthew earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Greek & Roman Studies from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. Outside of work Matthew enjoys backpacking in Tennessee’s magnificent outdoors and volunteering with civic engagement initiatives.
