Dawn Schluckebier joined ThinkTennessee in 2018 and serves as the Advocacy and Government Relations Director. In this role, she leads the organization’s legislative strategy and civic engagement work. Previously, Dawn was the Principal Associate of Economic Opportunity and Financial Empowerment at the National League of Cities’ Institute for Youth, Education, and Families in Washington DC.
Dawn believes that public policy is the way to address systemic challenges, and that regardless of which side of the aisle you stand on, we can work together to find solutions to our pressing problems. Dawn founded Tennessee Mayors Growing Civic Engagement, the country’s first cohort of city and county leaders focused on increasing local civic participation, and has presented at state and national civic conferences, including the National Conference on Citizenship’s Annual Conference and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences’ Convening on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from the University of Maryland College Park and a Masters in Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University.
In her free time, Dawn enjoys exploring Tennessee’s many small towns and waterfalls and hunting for the next delicious meal.
