How does Tennessee stack up? Now in its second year, ThinkTennessee’s State of Our State dashboard provides an at-a-glance look at how our state ranks nationally across more than 100 different indicators.
For Tennesseans, 2018 will bring new leadership at all levels of government, from City Hall to the U.S. Capitol. Now more than ever, voters and candidates alike need a clear sense of the opportunities – and challenges – facing our state. These rankings paint a picture of how our state is doing on the issues that matter most. See our Policy Brief series for a deeper look at how our state stacks up, where we’re leading the way and where we’re falling behind, plus success stories from other states and recommendations for how Tennessee can continue to make progress.
Notes on Methodology:
For the sake of consistency, rankings have been standardized so that low numbers always reflect positive outcomes. In other words, being ranked 1st is always preferential to being ranked 50th.
Metrics were selected as sets, with the goal of providing an overview of each category. Where possible, government data were favored over other sources for consistency and reliability. All the data is current as of Mar. 1, 2018 and publicly available.
