Adelaide was born with debilitating spinal muscular atrophy, and her condition has caused great hardship for her family, who lives in Cheatham County.
As USA TODAY NETWORK – Tennessee columnist Jessica Bliss recently wrote, the infant needs care all the time and her middle-class family makes too much money to get any assistance or relief from the state.
That is principally because Tennessee is among the few states that have not adopted a federal provision to provide Medicaid services to severely disabled children who live at home.
