Recognizing that the jobs of the future are rooted in a thriving innovation economy, TIL was founded to establish a city-wide strategy for inclusive, tech-led growth.
City: Tulsa, OK
Purpose: To unite the public, private, and social sectors to develop Tulsa’s most promising emerging tech clusters by supporting the growth of startups, training diverse talent, expanding job opportunities, and spurring academic innovation.
Lead Stakeholders: Business, Philanthropy, Government
Process: TIL began in 2020 with a vision to catalyze an inclusive innovation economy in Northeast Oklahoma. The foundational strategy, “Tulsa’s Tech Niche,” identified four clusters in which the Tulsa region is positioned to become a leader: virtual health, energy tech, advanced air mobility, and cyber.
Guided by the belief that with the right partners, a data-driven strategy, meaningful initiative investments, and disciplined implementation, TIL aims to carve out a tech niche for the city and grow good jobs for all Tulsans.
- On pace to create or place up to 10,000 tech-related jobs in eight years.
- Estimated to increase Tulsa’s tech employment by 5% annually.
- Creating good jobs that pay an annual average wage of $67,000 – more than both the national and Tulsa average income.
- In the next eight years, TIL initiatives will draw nearly 150 new companies to the Tulsa region.
- TIL initiatives are poised to catalyze more than $1 billion in additional public and private capital.
