Doug Blaze joined the University of Tennessee College of Law faculty in 1993 as the director of clinical programs. He served as dean of the College of Law from 2008 to 2015 and from 2020-2022. He also founded and served as director of the college’s Institute for Professional Leadership. He retired from full-time teaching in 2022. Before coming to Tennessee, Professor Blaze was a member of the law faculty at Arizona State University, where he helped establish a community-based legal service clinic. He also practiced with the firm of Fennemore Craig in Phoenix.
Doug is active on a number of legal education and bar committees, including serving on the board of the Law School Admission Council, the AALS Membership Review Committee, and the ABA Accreditation Standards Review Committee. He was appointed as an inaugural member of the Tennessee Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission in 2009 and served as chair from 2014 to 2016.
