Feb. 2, 2017 – Leaders of a new Nashville-based think tank led by former Tennessee Attorney General Bob Cooper say they aim to promote “moderate, pragmatic public policy.”

The group is called ThinkTennessee and got its nonprofit status certified last month, said its president, Shanna Singh Hughey.

“We think good public policy can make people’s lives better and that’s what we’re focused on promoting,” she said. At the moment, she is the only full-time employee of the organization. She formerly worked as senior adviser to Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and as director of the Mayor’s Office of New Americans, which works with immigrants.
